Arena Chess Program Review

Arena is a free GUI for analyzing and playing games.  It runs on Windows XP or higher or on Linux with Wine 1.0 or higher.
Arena has an easy-to-use and configurable interface that you can adjust to your preferences.  It also has many of the features of Fritz such as: detailed analysis information, the ability to run engine tournaments, online play, automatic analysis, EPD, PGN you can attach a DGT board, support in 19 languages, display of opening names, it can use opening books, play Chess960 and has an extra analysis board, just to name a few of its features. The interface is very nice and you can adjust the colors and piece selection just like Fritz.
Whether you use SCID or Arena is a matter of personal preference, but unless you can find Fritz for $20 somewhere like I did, this is the program to use and you can’t beat the price: free.  Download Arena
